In short

In UK healthcare, AI delivers the fastest, safest wins on administration: correspondence, referral triage, scheduling, summarising notes for staff to check and answering routine patient questions. Anything that informs clinical decisions needs clinical risk management under DCB0129 and DCB0160. We build admin tools first, keep a clinician in the loop and handle data under UK GDPR.

What you get

  • Faster correspondence

Letters, referrals and summaries drafted for staff to approve.

  • Shorter queues

Routine enquiries answered or routed in seconds.

  • Safety first

Clinical risk and data protection handled from the start.

Where does AI help most in healthcare?

Administration. Staff spend hours on letters, appointment changes, inbox triage and repeated patient questions. AI can draft, sort and summarise that work for a person to check. In NHS England's Microsoft 365 Copilot trial, staff saved an average of 43 minutes a day on admin. Private providers can see similar gains on their own workflows.

  • Clinic letters and discharge summaries drafted from structured notes
  • Referral and inbox triage with routing to the right team
  • Patient enquiry assistant for opening times, preparation and policies
  • Appointment reminders and rescheduling workflows
  • Policy and guideline search for staff

What are DCB0129 and DCB0160, and do they apply?

They are the NHS clinical risk management standards for health IT. DCB0129 applies to manufacturers of systems used in patient care, and DCB0160 to the organisations that deploy them. If an AI tool could affect clinical decisions, both apply. NHS England is reviewing the standards to reflect AI, so we design for clinical safety from the outset.

For purely administrative tools the standards may not apply, but we still keep a hazard log, test outputs and keep a human reviewer in place. That protects patients and makes procurement easier later.

What should a provider automate first?

Pick a high-volume administrative task with low clinical risk, such as patient enquiries or appointment correspondence. Measure current volumes and handling time, run a supervised pilot, and only extend to clinically adjacent tasks once governance, testing and staff confidence are in place.

How is patient data protected?

Health data is special category data under UK GDPR, so we minimise it, use providers that contractually do not train on it, host in the UK or EU where possible and complete a data protection impact assessment with you. If you handle NHS patient data, we align with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit expectations.

How it works

  1. Free 20-minute call

Your services, systems and admin pressure points.

  2. Roadmap and risk review

Ranked use cases with clinical and data risk for each.

  3. Supervised pilot

One workflow, real staff, measured outcomes.

  4. Scale and support

    Governance, monitoring and ongoing support.

A good fit if you

  • Private clinics and multi-site practices
  • Domiciliary and residential care providers
  • Health technology suppliers selling into the NHS
  • Practice managers drowning in correspondence

Not the right fit if you

  • Autonomous diagnosis or treatment decisions
  • Projects that skip clinical safety review to save time
  • Teams unwilling to keep a clinician reviewing outputs

Questions people ask

Still unsure? Ask us on a free 20-minute call.

Is AI safe to use in a clinic?

It is safe when used for the right tasks with the right controls. We start with administrative work, keep a person reviewing outputs, test for errors and log usage. Anything that could influence clinical care goes through clinical risk management before it is used with patients.

Can AI write clinic letters?

Yes, as a first draft from structured notes or dictation, which the clinician then checks and signs. This is one of the biggest time savers we see. The clinician remains responsible for the content, and the tool keeps a record of what was generated and edited.

Do you build tools for NHS organisations?

We work with providers and suppliers who serve the NHS, and we design to NHS expectations such as DCB0129, DCB0160 and the Data Security and Protection Toolkit. Formal assurance documents are completed with your clinical safety officer and information governance lead.

Will our data be used to train AI models?

No. We only use services whose terms stop them training on your data, and we configure them that way. We also minimise the personal data that reaches any model and keep processing in the UK or EU where we can.

How quickly can we see results?

A patient FAQ assistant or correspondence workflow can usually be piloted within four to six weeks of the roadmap. We measure handling time and volumes before and after, so you see the real effect rather than an estimate.

What does a healthcare AI roadmap cost?

Our fixed-fee AI roadmap is £1,950 + VAT. For healthcare we include a risk review of each use case. Any build is then quoted at a fixed price after scoping, so you know the full cost before work begins.

Can you help with care homes and home care?

Yes. Care providers benefit from AI on rotas, care note summaries for handovers, training records and family communication. We keep residents' data protected and make sure carers review anything that informs care.
